Culinary Arts is the art and practice of preparing and cooking foods as well as the science and nutrition of those creations. People working in the food industry can be chefs, cooks, restaurant managers, food stylists, food critics, as well as work in sales or research and development. Employers can range from high-end restaurants to cafes to nursing homes to product companies (i.e. Stonewall Kitchen).
Chefs must usually stand for long periods of time and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Work schedules vary and can include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
