OUTLINE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   As assigned, to include but not limited to:  outside/landscaping projects such as weed control, brush trimming using a gas powered string trimmer, operating a gas powered lawn mower, perform touch up paint inside and outside the main building, help move furniture, assist in setting up or breaking down conference rooms, perform cleaning duties, general dusting, sweeping, wet mopping, cleaning white boards, operate floor cleaning equipment and cover for absent employees.  Keeping track of and completing your time card weekly.

LAB ANIMAL CARE ASSISTANT - Veterinary Technology (Peg Wheeler, LVT 207-216-4375 or

Responsible for: Cleaning, feeding and maintaining clean, fresh water for all program animals, providing daily spot cleaning and weekly deep cleaning of all cages, monitoring and recording health of individuals, providing enrichment and handling of animals, help maintain animal record keeping, maintain inventory of animal feeds and supplies, maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all surfaces in the lab animal housing room including counter tops, floors and all enclosures, maintain neatness and organization of storage in the lab animal housing room. Notify Department Chair of any health changes/concerns in any animals, feed/supply inventory needs or concerns about need for cage maintenance or additional equipment. Responsible during the Fall semester for coordination with the VET 215 instructor to integrate student husbandry experiences into the scheduling of animal care and supply control


LIBRARY/OFFICE ASSISTANT – Library (Danielle Ebbrecht 207-216-4323 or


Assist patrons with questions while using the learning resources (including basic informational needs, equipment problems, etc.) Provide one-on-one orientation to resources, as requested, troubleshoot technology problems and facilitate technology question referrals (Webdesk), monitor the lab to assure security of the Library/LRC space and the activities within, enforce Library/LRC and College policies, as necessary, record Library/LRC usage statistics, participate in constant information exchange among Library Front Desk staff, handle basic circulation of materials for Library/LRC patrons using automated system, maintain appointment book for Writing Tutor (Learning Assistance services) re-shelve materials that have been used or returned, take responsibility for own shifts (and finding and reporting replacements), maintain the confidentiality of all patron information.

Student will participate in recruitment events and New Student Orientation. Assist in the planning of Open House, New Student Orientation and other campus events. Give campus tours and keep contact with prospective students through phone calls, emails and mailings. Assist with data-entry and mailing of all inquiries and prospective student visits to campus on the EX computer system,  Assist the Director with basic office tasks such as sorting mail, filing and photocopying and special projects as assigned


CS/IT Lab Assistant – Computer Science (Lauren Mayhew  207-216-4368




Student will have Knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Knowledge of Brightspace and how to navigate around it easily, some programming skills preferred (e.g. python, java, html/css, etc...). Assist setting up class labs, provide basic IT troubleshooting, assist students with basic PC troubleshooting, assist with grading and data entry, manage CS Email & Message Boards, assist supervisor with special projects and other duties as assigned.


COMPUTER SCIENCE TUTOR -  (Lauren Mayhew  207-216-4368


The computer science/information technology work study will spend approximately 25-30% of their time tutoring other CIS students. These duties will not only include helping students understand the given assignment, but also providing textbook and online resources to assist the student.  Additionally, the work study student will work with the CS/IT department and the Student Success Commons to create written documents and resources for current and future CIS students.

York County Community College students in an Early Childhood Development certificate or degree program may have the opportunity to tutor children in reading/math at local schools/libraries. Student will represent York County Community College  in local elementary schools.  This program not only aids in student portfolio development, it also provides outreach services for schools/libraries.


VIRTUAL PEER MATH TUTOR - Student Success Commons (Danielle Ebbrecht 207-216-4323 or


Provide academic support and tutoring for students who come to the Student Success Commons for math help. Tutors will help students develop learning strategies, recommend learning resources, answer student inquiries and help with exam preparation in both one on one and group settings. Peer tutors prepare and lead weekly subject focused study groups. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required as well as outstanding demonstrated achievement in math.

Greet students, orient students to Student Success Commons and assist students with questions as requested, provide academic assistance to students in (math, writing, sciences or trades and study skills, Assist with creating academic resources and promotional materials. Work with technician/instructor to prepare laboratory materials, Student cleans, washes and sterilizes laboratory equipment, follows and helps maintain laboratory safety procedures. Student Inventories and organizes laboratory supplies, sets up apparatus for experiments, labels and numbers specimens, sorts and packages samples. Student will maintain open laboratory hours for student study. Student will provide data entry, copying, filing, mailings, project preparation and other duties as assigned.

Look for relevant area career and transfer events/workshops/open houses and post to the MyYCCC portal, update, print, and post to bulletin boards, Weekly summary of employment opportunities, monthly summary of career and transfer events, other office promotional items, find and schedule social media updates for the office (Facebook, Twitter, and soon LinkedIn), lend a student voice to office programming and resource development. TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT ASSISTANT - Technical Support Department  (Paul Archer 207-216-4336 or


Student will act as a front desk support roll for department, address user issues and either help triage simple problems or generate work orders using department ticketing system.  Provide a human element to the department so all user issues receive attention in a timely fashion.  Other IT duties as assigned. Student should have knowledge with basic connectivity to network and wifi, knowledge of the Windows environment, knowledge of Microsoft Suite Programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, exceptional customer service skills. The ability and willingness to learn on the job and the ability to research IT solutions based on given criteria.

CULINARY LAB ASSISTANT - (Krista Cochran 216-4381 or



This position requires assisting in maintaining sanitation standard with regard to the storage of food and cleanliness of equipment.Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining lab supplies, materials, equipment and preparing Mis en Place for instructors. Work is preformed under the general supervision of the instructor and Department Chair.

Student will maintain sanitation standards and works collaboratively with the instructor.  The student will have working knowledge of Culinary lab, valid ServSafe Certificate. Student will receive and stores orders from vendors, assist in inventories of supplies (including food, and equipment). Student will do light shopping when needed. Student must be industry experienced, have a valid Maine State Drivers license. Student must have college level course work in Food Preparation. Student may have some industry experience.
