Transfer articulation agreements are formal academic partnerships between institutions to accept credits in transfer toward a specific academic program. Ideally, they are very detailed down to the course-by-course or sometimes they are more general by accepting a maximum number of credits. For students to take advantage of a transfer agreement, they must graduate with their Associate's degree before transfer, meet grade requirements for each course, and often maintain a minimum GPA (see individual agreements for details).

Students please note that all colleges and university admission offices will review your transcript(s) and determine what courses/credits will transfer regardless of your program and if there is an articulation agreement or not. It is important to be in contact with your potential transfer colleges as early in your academic career as possible. For more about the transfer process, please download and read "The Transfer Process" on the Transfer Services home page.

Academic Affairs and Career & Transfer Services are in the process of reviewing and updating our articulation agreements and transfer guides. If you have questions in the meantime, please contact Academic Affairs (207) 216-4319. A master list of all articulations: past, present, and in process can be found on SharePoint (this is only viewable by YCCC faculty and staff)

Program Partnerships

In addition to transfer articulation agreements, YCCC and the Maine Community College System may have program partnerships. These are similar to articulation agreements but may include: partnerships within YCCC, partial coursework at both institutions to obtain your associate's degree or transfer to a baccalaureate program before obtaining your associate.

    Transfer Guides

Transfer Guides are provided by the transfer college in order to help you assess your transfer options and course transferability. They may only cover core/general education requirements or could be program specific. It is always best to contact their admissions office to get a full review of your courses (and when keeping your syllabi comes in handy!).

    Reverse Transfer

Did you know that you can transfer back to YCCC coursework from your next institution to obtain your Associate's degree? As long as you have taken at least 15 credits at YCCC and the coursework to transfer back will fulfill the remaining degree requirements, you are eligible! Please contact us if you would like to find out more.
